Aiden by Best Western at Denver West Golden

The room seemed to be partially remodeled or maybe had some recent water damage. It smelled musty when you walked in. The bathroom floor was new but the ceiling was peeling. The mirror was recently replaced but only partially covered the hole from the previous light fixture. There was no fan! The rest of the room was minimal. The carpet was not new. The light fixtures by the beds sides did not have lamp shades. The only other light in the room was another lamp on the desk with a shade. The only chair was a simple stiff chair at the desk. The only other place to sit was on the bed. There was plenty of room in the corners for better furniture or a tall lamp. It was almost like they were supposed to be there. Our flight was delayed so we checked in late. The smell hit you when you came in but we were able to sleep. The next day when we came back to the room it almost felt like the bedding was wet not just cool. The third day it had rained on us before we entered the room. Not only did our sweatshirts not dry over night they smelled like the musty room. My glasses where even foggy when I put them on. When we checked out that morning we made sure to say something. The service desk had a new person. Not only had we not seen her the other days but she was new to the job. She didn't really know what to do but advised me to email. The location of the hotel was great! I just wouldn't stay here again unless you call and verify the "remodel" conditions. Nothing outside our room showed any signs of construction.

Friendly staff and comfortable small hotel, easy to locate and get back on the road again going east without encountering Denver commuters. Saw bunnies hanging out around the (seasonally?) closed pool. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast might have been delicious if it had been hot. I was there within the first 30 minutes and all hot food was tepid. I was surprised by the requirement of a large (refundable) deposit in addition to the room charge. I hadn't seen any notice of that and am hard pressed to understand it. Of four hotels on my trip, two had this requirement. Refunds were promised within a week, which feels like holding my money for their corporate benefit.

Bed was ok. An extra blanket in the room would have been nice. Lackluster fitness center. The WiFi in the room was inconsistent. Quiet enough, though, and the bathroom was nice, as were the staff.
