While the hotel is old and needs to be updated, it was generally clean, the staff was friendly and helpful and it was in a great location across from the Bayside Marketplace mall and the Bayfront Park. The Big Bus tour for hop-on hop-off of Miami and Miami Beach begins right across the street from the hotel. The hotel price was very reasonable, too. We got the suite which provided plenty of room for the two of us.

This was supposed to be a 4 star hotel. I wouldn't put my dog in this hotel. The walls were covered with huge dust balls and over the bed was a crack in the ceiling and paint. In the dining room there were fruit flies. It's a good thing we were only staying 1 night. I plan on letting my AAA travel agent know about the conditions so there won't be anymore travelers using this hotel. We also heard that it was being sold so they weren't doing any maintenance. And the hotel name wasn't even on the door and there was no marquee. The building just looked like an apartment building.

I wish I could rate it lower. I was told going in that some of the rooms were being refurbished, but we got one of the old rooms that was tiny and banged up from years of use. The bathroom was being held together with caulking and the fixtures were vintage. What made it worse is the fact we paid top price for a room that probably shouldn't have been rented. Additionally, the soft drink vending machine near our room was empty of most drinks. The on site breakfast was $22 per person and there were no biscuits, gravy or bacon on the buffet. The lobby of the hotel was gorgeous, but the room was anything but.

Great location, right across the street from a major entertainment/restaurant venue. Room was OK, could use some updating, but it was clean. TV was ridiculously small for this day and age. No free breakfast (what was I thinking?), minimum of $18 or so for yucky breakfast. On the morning when the cruises were embarking, the lobby was absolute chaos, what with people trying to get cabs, transportation to the cruise port. Still, felt kind of ripped off for over $300 for one night. But, it's downtown Miami, so....
