Weather
Located in the heart of the South, Atlanta has humid, hot summers. Expect thunderstorms that come and go quickly with average temperatures that hover in the 80s for most of the day. However, it’s more moderate than the subtropical climate of other Southern states and a more moderate summer means it’s easier to spend time outdoors and soak up the sun. Just wear lots of sunscreen!

The high season for Atlanta includes May and June, so airline prices will be at their peak during these months. Demand does drop off as the temperatures increase, however, so July and August are busy yet not the most expensive. Arguably one of the best times in Atlanta, the area is known for its exceptional fall foliage display. Temperatures are mild and cool, yet the weather is still sunny. Plus, Atlanta is known to have “Indian Summers” where summer weather can last into October.

Fall is a fun time in Atlanta with apple picking, pumpkin patches, fall festivals and beautiful golden leaves. Indulge in the spooky history of Atlanta with a ghost tour during October as Atlanta is home to several haunted destinations. Explore these in a walking tour, or visit individual spots on your own. Atlanta is also a television and movie filming hub, thanks to its diverse landscape, moderate climates and entertainment-friendly tax prices, so movie buffs will love the chance to explore the filming sites of hit series.
Fall is a perfect time for a tour of the Netflix hit series, Stranger Things, film locations. Visit both "Upside" and "Down" filming spots like Hawkins neighborhood, the Hawkins Middle School and the indoor studio. The Walking Dead was also filmed in Atlanta, so to continue your spooky television tour, try a private tour of these film locations as well about an hour south of the city. Several Marvel movies were filmed in Atlanta as well, so a 3-hour private Marvel Universe tour is sure to satisfy any comic book lover as well.
Atlanta winters are often volatile, but typically not too harsh. The region doesn’t experience too much snow and temperatures typically hover in the 50s. For those used to the snow-dumping of the Rockies or the below-free temperatures of the Midwest, Atlanta winters are mild.
