76 Strip
W 76 Country Boulevard, Branson, MO, 65616
This stretch of State Highway 76, also known as 76 Country Boulevard, is the center of activity in Branson, Missouri, a former country music capital turned into a theater and family vacation destination. If you're visiting Branson for fun, the Strip 76, with its live shows, museums, and restaurants, is where you'll start and likely stay.
The basics
The 76 Strip is near most, if not all, of Branson's top attractions. The south Missouri town is a fun road trip destination, but the strip has enough theaters, music halls, museums, theme parks, and attractions for a days-long visit. Your best visiting strategy is to stay at one of the hotels along the strip and set out to your diversions of choice—the top ones include the Haygoods family musical show and the Silver Dollar City amusement park.
Things to know before you go
- Accommodations on the strip include motels, hotels, lodges, and RV parks.
- While some theaters are along the strip, most are in the Theater District on the west end of town.
- Going east, the Strip deadends at the Branson Landing outdoor shopping mall—a good place for a break and a bite.
How to get there
The Strip lies along State Highway 76 through Branson in southwestern Missouri, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) southwest of St. Louis. While the exact limits are debatable, the Strip runs roughly from Shepherd of the Hills Expressway to Roark Valley Road. Most visitors drive to Branson, though some fly in. On arrival, explore downtown on a free shuttle.
When to get there
Branson is a year-round tourist destination, but it comes alive with crowds in summer. Visit in the peak season from June through August for the best chances of catching a live performance. Winter is almost as popular and brings holiday-themed shows such as Branson's Christmas Wonderland at King's Castle Theatre.
What are the best theaters in Branson?
There are so many theaters in Branson—known to some as the Live Entertainment Capital of the World—that choosing one depends on what kind of entertainment you like. Rest easy with the heavy hitters such as the Haygoods or Presleys' Country Jubilee. Alternatively, try one of four theaters on the strip: Hamners' Variety, Little Opry, the Majestic, and Pierce Arrow.
