Adliswil-Felsenegg Cable Car
Zelgstrasse 80, Adliswil, Switzerland, 8134
The Adliswil-Felsenegg Cable Car was built in 1954 to connect the town of Adliswil to Stallikon, specifically the Albis mountain chain’s Felsenegg viewpoint. The cable cars and stations have undergone renovation since then. Now, the journey time to the top is five minutes, with departure intervals every 15 minutes.
The basics
Some of the best views of Zurich are a 5-minute ride away. The Adliswil-Felsenegg cable car takes passengers 2,600 feet (792 meters) up for views of Lake Zurich and the Alps. Hiking trails connect this viewpoint to others in the Sihl valley, including the Albishorn, Uetliberg, and Hochwacht. The Planet Trail maps out the solar system’s distance at a 1 meter to 1 million kilometer scale, allowing hikers to “walk” from the sun to Pluto.

Swiss Travel Pass and Zurich Card holders travel free.
Restaurant Felsenegg is within walking distance of the Felsenegg station.
Many group tours of Zurich stop at the cable car for a quick ride.
How to get there
The Adliswil-Felsenegg Cable Car is located in Adliswil, approximately 5.2 miles (8.5 kilometers) south of Zurich. The easiest way to reach it via public transport is by taking the train to Adliswil train station and then taking a taxi or walking 10 minutes to the cable car. You can also take the N15 or 151 bus to the Adliswil Feldblumenstrasse stop near the cable car.
When to get there
This cable car, the only public cable car in the canton of Zurich, is accessible year-round. It’s a popular attraction, having sent more than 12 million passengers up and down the line, so expect a short wait in summer's tourist season. The cable car ride only takes 5 minutes, so even if you make a spur-of-the-moment trip, your wait shouldn’t be long. Consider an evening ride to see the sunset.
Explore the Albis Nordic Walking Path
The Planet Path isn’t the only hiking trail visitors tackle atop the Adliswil-Felsenegg cable car line. The Albis Nordic Walking Path, featuring six trails, is part of this system. Two are designed for beginners, two for intermediate, and two for advanced hikers. The Albis Park Trail is the most challenging, with a 2,460-foot (750-meter) ascent. The Balderen Trail is the easiest: It's a 2.2-mile (3.6-kilometer) loop from the Felsenegg station to the restaurant and back.
