Big Machine Distillery
1800 Abernathy Road, Lynnville, Tennessee, TN, 38472
Located in the quaint village of Lynnville (population 287) one hour south of Nashville by car, this small-batch distillery (formerly known as Tenn South Distillery) gives visitors behind-the-scenes looks at aged whiskey production. Discover quirky specialties like Peach Pie Moonshine and browse the on-site gift shop featuring spirits and local treats. Expect a warm welcome and complimentary tastings.
The Basics
Give yourself at least one hour to explore the distillery. Visits include free grain-to-glass guided tours, so expect to learn all about the distillation of artisanal spirits, all the way from grinding down locally-harvested white corn to barrel aging and bottling. You can pick up a bottle (or two) in the gift shop, with tastings available in a designated tasting room to help you decide which spirit to take home.
Things to Know Before You Go
A tour and tasting is recommended for anyone interested in small batch spirits and artisanal liquor production.
Tours and tastings are offered free-of-charge.
Expect to spend time browsing the on-site gift shop, where bottles of spirits, gifts and T-shirts, and a rotating selection of locally-made culinary products are available for purchase.
How to Get There
It’s best to drive as Giles County lacks public transportation. The distillery is located at 1800 Abernathy Road in Lynnville. From Nashville, follow the I-65S to Marshall County. Then, take exit 27 and continue on TN-129W until Abernathy Road. Use a GPS system as the off-the-beaten-track location can be hard to find.
When to Get There
The Big Machine Distillery keeps regular business hours and is open from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. Tours and tastings are offered within that time. Advanced reservations aren’t required, but you can always call the distillery ahead of time to let them know you’re coming through—especially if you’re with a large group.
