POINT OF INTEREST

Dairy Block

1800 Wazee St, Denver, CO, 80202

A fixture of Denver’s LoDo neighborhood, the Dairy Block is a walkable micro-district of bars, restaurants, shops, and a boutique hotel—all with a backdrop of art installations by Colorado creatives. The mixed-use space is named after the old Windsor Dairy and nods to its past with the Denver Milk Market food hall, which, along with a weekly events calendar of Taco Tuesdays and trivia nights, offers something for every crowd.

The basics

Spend a half-day at the Dairy Block by grabbing a bite at one of nearly 20 restaurants, hitting the shops, and checking out community events like live bluegrass and wine tastings. Or, head there with a local guide—the Dairy Block is a popular stop on bike and walking tours of downtown Denver, as well as food, craft beer, and cocktail crawls showcasing the city’s specialties.

Things to know before you go

  • The Dairy Block announces weekly events, from live music to drag brunches, on its website and social media.

  • While it’s easy to pop into the food hall, reservations are recommended at the Dairy Block’s sit-down restaurants.

  • Elevators make the complex and parking garage wheelchair and stroller accessible.

  • Several bars and a coworking space mean the Dairy Block is mostly frequented by the 21-plus crowd, but there are a handful of kid-friendly dining options.

How to get there

A short walk from Coors Field and Union Station in central LoDo, the Dairy Block is easy to reach on foot from downtown or with public transportation. Use the RTD app to plan your trip via bus or light rail. Drivers can find parking on the street or in the Dairy Block’s underground parking garage on 19th Street.

When to get there

The Dairy Block is open daily from morning to late night, though hours for individual businesses vary. Most of the action happens around mealtimes, so plan to go for lunch or dinner and take your pick of dining options, happy hours, and special events.

Art, music, and outdoor activities at the Dairy Block Alley

The pedestrian-friendly “Alley,” an outdoor hangout that cuts through the middle of the Dairy Block, is lined with murals by Colorado artists and tables for gathering. Stop by the Alley on Friday and Saturday evenings to catch performances by local musicians. Around the holidays, you’ll often find themed art installations and pop-up markets on the lively street.
