The basics

Denver Civic Center Park is a National Historic Landmark and a 12-acre (4.85-hectare) expanse of neat lawns, gardens, and monuments. Opened in 1919 as part of America’s City Beautiful Movement, it now hosts year-round events from food truck rallies to parades and festivals. Key points within the park include a Greek amphitheater, Voorhies Memorial Seal Pond, formal gardens, and a war memorial. The adjacent, gold-domed Colorado State Capitol is the seat of government for the state.

Denver Civic Center Park is near bus lines 0, 10, 15, 16, 19, 3L, 83L, and 9. The Denver Light Rail “A” line stops at 18th Street/California Station, a 12-minute walk from the park's north side. Many paid parking lots and garages are located nearby.

When to get there

Most Denver Civic Center Park events are during the summer, with food trucks and other weekly happenings scheduled from June through September. Things to see in the Denver Civic Center Historic District

This compact historic district features Beaux-Arts design, and its key landmarks were built from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. It’s all within walking distance of Civic Center Park: check out the Colorado State Capitol, Denver City and County Building, Denver Public Library, Colorado State Museum, and Colorado State Office Building.
