Deutsche Bank Center

10 Columbus Circle, Manhattan, New York City, NY, 10019

Formerly known as the Time Warner Center, the Deutsche Bank Center takes pride of place on Columbus Circle, looking out over the southern entrance to Central Park. Framed by two gleaming 55-story towers, the high-end complex houses the 5-star Mandarin Oriental hotel, Michelin-starred restaurants, a prestigious live music venue, and a shopping mall, alongside corporate offices and luxurious New York residences.

The basics

Deutsche Bank Center offers more than 50 retail shops and boutiques, which carry everything from cosmetics and jewelry to clothing and housewares. Spend some time browsing, then treat yourself to a Michelin-starred meal at Thomas Keller’s Per Se or Masayoshi Takayama’s Masa, or grab foods for a picnic in the park in the basement-level Whole Foods. While access to the complex’s offices and upscale condominiums is limited to residents and employees, visitors can stay at the center by booking rooms at the luxurious Mandarin Oriental. (Visitors who aren’t guests at the hotel can still enjoy the property’s restaurants and spa.)

Some sightseeing tours include a stop at Deutsche Bank Center, especially those focused on Midtown or on shopping. You can also visit on a hop-on hop-off bus tour and spend as much time as you like exploring Deutsche Bank Center.

Driving

Self-navigating NYC in a car is a challenge best left to the locals. If you do choose to drive, you can park at MPG Manhattan Parking on West 60th Street between Broadway and Columbus Avenue, or SP+ Parking on West 58th Street. Alternatively, there’s a 24-hour taxi stand at the main entrance.

Public transportation

The most convenient way to arrive is by subway: Take the A, B, C, D, or 1 trains to 59th Street/Columbus Circle. Several bus lines also stop on Columbus Circle, including the M1, M5, M10, M20, M31, M57, and M104.

Best times to visit

To enjoy the shops without the crowds, arrive early—most shops open at 10am from Monday to Saturday and 11am on Sundays. Snag a spot at one of the bars on the fourth floor in time to watch the sunset over the Manhattan skyline, then stick around to soak up the atmosphere after dark.

Best days to visit

The best chance of securing a table at one of the Michelin-starred restaurants is mid-week, but you’ll still need to book in advance. Weekdays are generally a quieter time to shop, and it’s usually busiest on Saturdays.

Best months to visit

Neighboring Central Park is at its most beautiful in spring and fall, and this makes a good time to visit the Deutsche Bank Center before the summer crowds arrive. However, it’s worth braving the crowds over the holidays to admire the center’s glittering Christmas lights.
