How to get there

The Elaphite Islands are located in the Adriatic Sea. Board ferries, speedboat tours, and taxi boats from Gruz Harbor in Dubrovnik to the three most popular islands of Kolocep, Lopud, and Sipan. The archipelago can only be reached by water and is an easy full-day trip from Dubrovnik.

When to get there

Summer is the most popular season to visit Dubrovnik. During July and August, everything from hotel rooms to boat tours fill up quickly, so book a journey to the Elaphite Islands in advance. Visiting in the shoulder seasons (spring and fall) means cooler temperatures and fewer crowds, although ferries and tours may be less frequent.

Beyond sun and sand, the Elaphite Islands also offer historic landmarks. Lopus is home to an 11th-century Benedictine Monastery and 16th-century churches, while Sipan has a 15th-century palace and the remains of a Roman villa.
