Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC)
1201 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA, 90015
Designed in 1971 by Charles Luckman, architect of Madison Square Garden and LAX’s famous Theme Building, the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC) sprawls over several blocks’ worth of downtown and plays host to some 350 industry showcases, genre expos, and special events each year.
The basics
Thanks to its location near the Staples Center at the L.A. Live complex, LACC attracts more than 2 million annual visitors who are spoiled for choice when it comes to lodging, dining, and entertainment. The facility itself has 64 meeting rooms, 720,000 square feet (66,890 square meters) of exhibit hall space, and 147,000 square feet (13,660 square meters) of meeting room space. Many guided tours of downtown Los Angeles pass by the convention center, offering a chance to see it from the outside.
Things to know before you go
The Los Angeles Convention Center is one of the largest LEED Gold Certified convention centers in the United States.
Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.
The LACC is ADA-compliant and offers gender-neutral restrooms and lactation rooms for new mothers.
How to get there
The LACC is easy to get to by public transportation from other areas of Los Angeles; the 7th Street/Metro Center station is about a 10-minute walk away. Street parking is generally limited to 1 hour, though many nearby paid lots offer all-day parking for a one-time fee.
When to get there
The best time to visit the LACC is during an event, and there’s one going on almost every day of the year. Some that might be of interest to visitors include the LA Art Show, Los Angeles Marathon Health & Fitness Expo, Stranger Con, Horror Palooza, and E3.
L.A. LIVE and the Staples Center
Next door to the LACC, L.A. LIVE is a hub of entertainment, complete with restaurants, nightclubs, sports bars, music venues, a bowling alley, movie theater, and the Grammy Museum. The Microsoft Theater at L.A. LIVE hosts the Emmys, ESPYs, American Music Awards, and American Idol Finals each year. Staples Center is home to the Los Angeles Kings, Lakers, Clippers, and Sparks.
