Los Angeles World Cruise Center
100 Swinford St., San Pedro, CA, 90731
Cruise passengers heading to the Los Angeles World Cruise Center find a sun-drenched entryway to the West Coast that's ripe for exploring. At port, you're not far from Downtown LA destinations, scenic beaches, and top city attractions. Numerous tours with port pickup—and private transfers—can whisk you around the City of Angels.
The basics
Because of LA's sheer size, even the most plan-oriented Tinseltown tourists might find it tough to see all of the city's countless attractions. To make the most of a trip through the Los Angeles World Cruise Center, opt for a guided day tour or try a multi-day excursion to see more of the top attractions in a short period of time.
LA offers something for everyone. Movie buffs head to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, foodies prioritize the Original Farmers Market, and art lovers book it to the Getty Center. Go to Griffith Observatory for views of the iconic "Hollywood" sign or to Rodeo Drive for movie star sightings—or book a celebrity home sightseeing tour. The Santa Monica Pier is perfect for families with its 1920s carousel and scenic beach.
Things to know before you go
- To get the best views of Los Angeles in less time, opt for a sightseeing flight or helicopter tour.
- If you want to drive yourself, you can book a vehicle through Enterprise or Hertz in San Pedro, which offers pickup and drop-off at the World Cruise Center (both are closed on Sunday).
- The port includes two terminal buildings, secure overnight parking, and free shuttles between the terminal and parking area.
How to get to Los Angeles from the World Cruise Center
Most cruise vessels dock at the World Cruise Center in San Pedro, while Carnival passengers can expect to dock at Long Beach Cruise Terminal, about a 15-minute drive away. Both locations are about 30 miles (48 kilometers) from downtown Los Angeles. Since LA is huge, a rental car, private tour, or round-trip transfers that offer port pickup are ideal. Public transportation from the port to downtown LA can take up to two hours.
Port information
The local language in Los Angeles is English, though Spanish is widely spoken. The currency here is the US dollar. Most vendors, restaurants, and attractions accept both cash and credit cards. Banks, convenience stores, and bars typically have ATM kiosks, which are a safe and convenient way to withdraw cash.
