Lyric Theatre
214 W 43rd St, New York City, NY, 10036
New York City’s Lyric Theatre is one of the largest theaters in Times Square. Located just off Broadway, it’s known for hosting major productions, including Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. With its grand architecture and top-notch shows, it’s a popular destination for both local and visiting theatergoers. And in the spirit of wizardry, there are augmented-reality features in the lobby that guests can scan to reveal hidden secrets.
The basics
Experience the magic of Broadway by attending a show at the Lyric Theatre. Choose from a range of ticket options—from premium seats to more affordable choices. To accommodate the production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the theater underwent major modifications to enhance the audience’s experience, and is now known for its state-of-the-art tech. The venue is close to plenty of restaurants, in case you want to grab a bite before or after the show.
Things to know before you go
Consider arriving at least 30 minutes early so you can find your seat and explore the theater before the show.
Kids under 15 need to be accompanied by an adult, and those under 5 are not allowed to attend performances.
There are wheelchair-accessible locations on the orchestra and Dress Circle levels; the theater’s accessible entrance is on 42nd Street.
How to get there
To reach the Lyric Theatre, take the 1, 2, 3, 7, S, N, Q, R, or W train to the Times Square-42nd Street station, or the A, C, or E to the Port Authority Bus Terminal station, about a 5-minute walk from the theater. Several bus lines, including the M7, M20, and M104, stop near 42nd Street. Since the venue is centrally located in the Times Square area, you can also walk there from surrounding attractions.
When to get there
Book tickets to the Lyric Theatre for a weekday evening performance or a Sunday matinee; this is when ticket availability is often better. If you're looking to see a popular show like Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, consider booking tickets in advance, as weekend evening shows tend to sell out quickly.
