POINT OF INTEREST

Memphis Music Hall of Fame

126 S. Second St., Memphis, TN, 38103

Located on Memphis’s legendary Beale Street (famous for its melting pot of music genres), Memphis Music Hall of Fame pays tribute to the stars who’ve shaped modern music—including Otis Redding, Johnny Cash, B.B. King, and Elvis Presley. On a visit to the museum, you can see unique memorabilia, rare video performances, and interviews.

The basics

Prebook your admission ticket in advance online or buy it at the museum. Inside, enjoy learning about the musicians who have been inducted over the years. See rare memorabilia, such as Justin Timberlake’s Tom Ford stage outfit, which he wore during his The 20/20 Experience Tour, and Jerry Lee Lewis' custom Cadillac. New artists are inducted into the Memphis Hall of Fame every year, so new items also go on display each year.

Things to know before you go

  • The last entry to the museum is 45 minutes before closing time.

  • Budget about an hour to see everything inside the Hall of Fame.

  • This is a fun day for families with older kids interested in music; admission fees for kids under 17 are inexpensive, too.

  • If you can’t get enough of Memphis’ music history, the Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum is a 5-minute walk from the Memphis Music Hall of Fame while

  • Sun Studios is just one mile (1.6 kilometers) away.

How to get there

The Memphis Music Hall of Fame is in Downtown Memphis on the corner of Second Street and Beale Street. Beale Street can be difficult to park on; if you’re struggling to find parking, head to the 250 Peabody Place Parking Garage, about a 5-minute walk away. You can also take a taxi, hop on the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA), or try a hop-on hop-off bus ticket in the city.

When to get there

Memphis Music Hall of Fame is open daily from morning until late afternoon. The best time to visit the Memphis Music Hall of Fame is during the day on a weekday when Beale Street is a lot quieter and calmer. In August, Elvis fans should visit Downtown Memphis during Elvis Week—a week-long celebration of the music legend’s life and career.

Make it a full day of Memphis fun

Before you visit the Memphis Music Hall of Fame, spend the morning at the Mississippi Riverwalk, taking in the riverfront views. Then, after you visit the museum, grab a burger, chicken tenders, and a flavored daiquiri from Wet Willie’s. The eatery is just a 5-minute walk down Beale Street.
