Meow Wolf Denver (Convergence Station)
1338 1st St., Denver, CO, 80204
Meow Wolf Denver (Convergence Station) can barely be contained into words, but let’s try: It’s an interactive playscape of sci-fi-esque, neon worlds. The Denver installment marks the brand’s third and largest permanent exhibition, where visitors wander through a maze of visual and textile delight, like an art museum gone rogue. You have to see it to believe it.
The basics
Meow Wolf kicked off the immersive art trend that has gained popularity in the US. It also makes immersive art at its wildest: No Van Gogh paintings set to gentle music here—instead, imagine something akin to Alice in Wonderland, but lit by blacklight. Meow Wolf Denver is vaguely alien-themed, with four different exhibits each showcasing their own whimsical, out-of-this-world flavor.
Some city tours, such as bike tours or walking tours, will include a stop or at least pass by Meow Wolf’s exterior. Afterward, be sure to catch the real magic inside.
Things to know before you go
- Tickets sell out, so be sure to purchase yours in advance.
- It has a cocktail lounge, café, and bar.
- Meow Wolf meets ADA standards and is largely accessible for walkers, wheelchairs, strollers, and scooters.
How to get there
Since parking is limited in central Denver, it’s best to get to Meow Wolf via light rail, taxi, on foot, or bicycle. The nearest light rail station is Decatur-Federal Station, which is about a 10- to 15-minute walk. If you do have a car, utilize one of the city’s many parking garages, like the 5th Street Garage (the entrance is actually on Walnut Street).
When to get there
Since tickets are required and should be purchased in advance, arrive at Meow Wolf Denver roughly 15 minutes before your scheduled time. Many visitors say 2–3 hours is really the bare minimum for a visit; if you can, nab tickets for a time slot when you can wander leisurely and not be in a hurry.
For more meows
Though it’s typically suggested for second-time visitors, grabbing a QPass can up any Meow Wolf visitor’s experience. Here’s how it works: Purchase one in the lobby and while walking around scan it at the portals you come across, which unlocks “secrets” and “memories,” giving the exhibits an all-new, deeper flavor.
