Noguchi Museum
9-01 33rd Road, Astoria, New York City, NY, 11106
Born in Los Angeles to American-Japanese parents, Isamu Noguchi’s decades-long career as an artist saw him design everything from public sculptures to stage sets to modernist furniture. This museum and sculpture garden, located in Astoria, was designed and curated by the artist himself and remains the most significant collection of his works.
The basics
Admission to the Noguchi Museum grants full access to the vast permanent exhibition, the world’s largest collection of Noguchi’s sculptures, drawings, models, and designs. Spend as long as you like browsing the two floors of exhibitions and more than 200 works of art created between 1920 and 1980. Finally, head out to the serene Japanese garden, where you can take a seat on one of the benches and contemplate the many sculptures.
