A statue of Rosa Parks greets visitors to the space that celebrates her legacy and spans 3.5 acres (1-5 hectares): the civil rights activist was a longtime Michigan resident. It’s also a great place to relax and people watch, with ample seating and art installations. In the winter, the plaza turns into a popular ice skating rink.

The best time to visit Rosa Parks Circle depends on your interests. In the summer (June to August), you’ll find outdoor concerts, festivals, and community events. In the winter (December to February), you can go ice skating on the seasonal rink. Come here in the early mornings or on weekdays if you want to avoid the crowds.
