The basics

Older children and teenagers will be in their element at the Speed Circuit, which is home to a go-kart track, zip line, "hamster ball" arena, ropes course, and over 30 arcade games. (There is also a play area for toddlers.) The race track allows drivers to reach up to speeds of 40 miles per hour, with two straightaways and four tight turns, while the Thrill Park and ropes course will challenge your balance, adventure, and aerial skills. Meanwhile, retro arcade games will take older visitors back to their youth. A range of admission passes are available to experience the different features of the complex.

• Save on entry prices with the purchase of a Go City San Diego pass.
• Most activities are best suited to older children, teenagers, and adults, and have height requirements.
• Go-karts may not be suitable for people with limited mobility.

How to get there

Speed Circuit is in Chula Vista, San Diego, at 881 Showroom Place. It’s about 20 miles outside of downtown San Diego, and is easiest to reach by car or taxi. It's also accessible by public transportation via the 225 then 707 buses from the Gaslamp Quarter downtown, though the trip takes around an hour and a half.

When to get there

Speed Circuit is open daily, from the afternoon to the evening on weekdays, and morning to night on Saturdays and Sundays. The go-kart track is a popular place for birthday parties and other events, so reserve group packages in advance.
