St. Paul's Key West Episcopal Church
401 Duval St., Key West, FL, 33040
St. Paul's Episcopal Church enjoys a prominent location on Key West’s busy Duval Street. But even without this enviable piece of real estate, the church would be hard to miss. On sunny days, its white exterior stands out brilliantly against the bright blue Key West sky. Inside, you’ll find a peaceful sanctuary from the bustling city.
The basics
Founded in 1832, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is the oldest congregation in the United States south of St. Augustine. The current church is the fourth to occupy the location, the previous three churches having all been destroyed by fire and hurricanes. Today, there’s a magnificent collection of restored stained glass windows and 10 bells, which were recovered from the third church. Tours of Key West by foot and by trolley—as well as ghost tours—often make a stop at St. Paul’s.
