Since the first foundation stone was laid in 1928, the Greek Theater has been an integral part of Los Angeles’ cultural scene. Aside from briefly moonlighting as an army barrack during World War II, the outdoor venue has consistently drawn big-name performers over the decades. Hiking tours of the Hollywood Hills and Griffith Park tend to make brief stops at the theater, but anyone looking to get inside is best off attending a performance.

How to Get There

The Greek Theater is located at 2700 Vermont Avenue inside Griffith Park, near the neighborhood of Los Feliz. A paid parking lot is available on-site, though rideshares are more convenient than driving. In an effort to reduce its carbon footprint, the theater also offers shared shuttle service to surrounding communities.

When to Get There

Most events begin at 7:30pm or 8pm, but doors can open as early as 6pm. Consider coming early to settle into your seats, use the restrooms, and pick up food if you’ve ordered the express dining option. Your day of arrival will depend largely on the performance schedule—find it on the theater website.

Griffith Park

Perhaps most famous for being the home of the iconic Hollywood sign, the municipal Griffith Park is well-worth a visit on its own right. Expect panoramic views over the city, picturesque canyons and valleys, and a network of easy-to-moderate hiking trails, including one leading right to the sign. Save time for a visit to the Griffith Observatory or the Los Angeles Zoo, both located within the park.
