Campground Overview

Introduction

Dog Canyon is a two-hour drive from the Pine Springs area. The Dog Canyon Campground sits at 6,300 feet in elevation and has 9 tent and 4 RV sites. There is one group site at Dog Canyon that can be reserved for a group of 10-20 individuals. Campground amenities include drinking water and flush toilets (there are NO hookups, dump stations or showers). Only cooking stoves are permitted; charcoal, wood fires, and propane firepits are not permitted.

The Dog Canyon Campground is open year round, 24 hours a day.

Weather

Due to its elevation and protected location beneath steep cliff walls, the campground at Dog Canyon has cooler temperatures in the summer and is sheltered from strong gusty winds in the winter and spring.

Individual Tent Sites

Individual sites can accomodate 8 people with 2 tents. Sites include a single tent pad measuring 10' x 10' and a picnic table.

RV Sites

Each RV site will have a parking spot that can accommodate a 23 foot RV. Each site will have a picnic table in the spot.

Group Campsites

Groups must stay in designated group sites at the Pine Springs and Dog Canyon Campgrounds. Group site occupancy is limited to a minimum of 10 persons and a maximum of 20 persons per site. Vehicles parked here cannot block traffic.

Horse Corral Fee

Horse corral fees are $15.00 per night. This fee is in addition to the required entrance fee and campsite fee and is needed only if the corral facility will be used.

Fire/Stove Policy

Wood and charcoal fires are not allowed year round. All cooking must be done with contained fuel stoves.

Regulations Overview

- Camping is permitted in designated campsites only. - Camping is limited to 14 consecutive nights within a 30-day period and not more than 60 total nights per calendar year anywhere within the park. - At all park campgrounds, where tent pads are provided, all tents and/or camping shelters must be erected on the tent pads. - The use of hammocks, slacklines, tarps or similar devices tied to natural and/or manmade features is prohibited. - Only cooking stoves are permitted; charcoal, wood fires, and propane firepits are prohibited. - Quiet hours in all the park’s developed campgrounds are from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Mountain Time.
