Campground Overview

Introduction

South Campground is located near the Zion Canyon Visitor Center, ½ mile from the South Entrance at Springdale, Utah. Tent, RV, and group campsites are typically available by reservation from mid-March through October 31. All sites include a parking space, a picnic table, a fire ring, and space for a tent or RV/camper. All campsites in South Campground require reservations. Reservations can be made up to two (2) weeks in advance. First-come, first-served sites are not available.

South Campground is located near the Zion Canyon Visitor Center, ½ mile away from the South Entrance at Springdale, Utah. After entering the park, head straight on the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway. After roughly ¼ mile, there will be a sign for the South Campground. Take a right and follow the signs to the campground.

Rules & Regulations

Fire/Stove Policy

Seasonal fire restrictions are common - check with a ranger or camp host for current fire restrictions. Fires are only permitted in the furnished grates at each site. Only common fuel sources (such as firewood or charcoal) may be used. No burning of trash or manufactured/synthetic materials is allowed. Fires should never be left unattended and must be fully extinguished before leaving. Wood gathering is prohibited within the park. Purchase wood in nearby communities. Gas or liquid-fueled stoves and lanterns are allowed, but they should only be lit on bare ground away from vegetation. Lanterns may not be hung from trees. Regulations Overview

Some key regulations are listed below. For a more complete list of regulations, visit the park's campground regulations page. - Check-out time is 11:00 am. Check-in is typically available any time after 12:00 pm. - Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. - Generators may only run between the hours of 8 am - 10 am and 6 pm - 8 pm. - Hammocks, slacklines, or any other items may not be attached to trees or park structures. - Do not move picnic tables. - All food and waste must be properly stored or disposed of. - Tents and vehicles must not be on vegetation. - No fires are permitted when fire restrictions are in place. - Owners must take care of and clean up after their pets.

    There are nine planned ADA accessible campsites. Accessible campsites will be connected to nearby accessible restrooms via paved paths. The Pa'rus Trail, a paved trail which connects to the campground, can be traversed by wheelchairs with assistance. This trail follows the Virgin River and connects to the Zion Canyon Visitor Center.

    The park does not offer public internet service. Nearby businesses may have public wifi.

    Cell service is generally reliable within the campground. Signal can be spotty depending on your carrier and how busy the park is.
