Baymont Inn Suites By Wyndham Anc

This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had! We had made reservations for two rooms for one night through our AAA agent who helped us plan our Alaska vacation. We got to the Baymont Inn & Suites after the train from Seward brought us back to Anchorage and tried to check in our room. It was around 11:00 at night. There seemed to be a little confusion about our reservation, but then the worker gave us key cards for our rooms. I opened the door to our room and someone yelled, "hey, who's coming in?! We are in this room!". I turns out that both rooms they gave us were already occupied! We went back to the front desk, told them, and they couldn't figure out how the mix-up happened. He called the manager to come to the hotel to see if it could be straightened out. While he was waiting, a few more travelers came in and he took care of them, and they got their rooms, no problem. The manger arrived and he couldn't figure it out either. All this time we were just standing there waiting in the lobby. They blamed it on the worker who was there earlier in the day. We just kept saying, "please, just give us two open rooms so we can go to bed and you can figure it out later." But they just kept making us wait – for well over an hour!! I think they finally gave us rooms around 12:30am or so. It was a terrible experience. I told him that the way this was handled was not acceptable and that I'd talk to him (the manager) in the morning. We got a few hours of sleep and just wanted to get out of there and to the airport. When we came to the lobby he told me they reversed the charges and got rid of my credit card info. I'm happy they did that, but I would have much rather had a smooth check-in and a good night's sleep and paid what we planned. I do not recommend this hotel!!

The decor was dated but the room was in good condition and all of the amenities met my needs 100%. I did not use the complimentary breakfast; instead I got some items from the local grocer.
