Best Western Lakewood

We found live spiders and spider webs in bathtub, dead insects on floors, no soap in the unit at sink or tub, drain in bathtub backed up, shower surround scummy from old soap, no bath towels, hand towels or wash cloths for bathing. Bedside stand was missing on one side of bed and bedside lamp sitting on floor. WiFi did not work at all during our overnight stay. Floor dirty with dead insects and dirt behind entry door. Night attendant was very inexperienced, had poor communication skills. He had only been on the job for a few weeks, didn't know what towels to offer us when none were found in our unit. We had planned on staying two nights. By morning, we figured out that the night attendant had rented us a room that had been taken out of service some time before we arrived. This hotel appeared to have poor management. The night attendant had been poorly trained. The parking lot showed weeds and the outdoor pool appeared to be used for winter storage of outdoor furniture but the pool had not been prepped for spring and summer use yet. The daytime attendant was much better at communicating and was very apologetic. We were promised a full refund for two nights and we left the morning after our arrival, as we did not want to stay the second night that we had reserved. We were told that management doesn't necessarily come on site on weekends. The lack of management engagement at this hotel clearly shows. It appears to be a nice, quiet location, perhaps developed about 60 years ago, now old and outdated, that should be renovated to get more business and provide a quality hotel experience for guests.

Everything in the hotel was up to par. The heating system had no moldy smell, and the bathroom was in good shape. The bed was also very comfortable. The continental breakfast each morning was also good.
