Coda Williamsburg

4.5 Stars - A great experience overall. The staff were surprisingly warm and friendly. Super convenient location right by McCaren Park. They don't have parking but we easily found free street parking around the corner. We liked the room and felt it was fairly large and comfortable especially by NYC standards. It was also a relief to have a real bathroom not one of those see through glass compartments that seem to be a trend at some of these newer hotels. The only drawback was the balcony. It was a nice idea but unfortunately let in a cold draft. The room was clean and fresh when we checked in but when we came back after dinner, it smelled like cigarettes, presumably from the balcony next door, even though our door was closed. The smell lingered for the rest of our stay.

AAA site only charges the base rate for the room- the price McCarren has presented as the per night fee. The taxes and fees that are charged in addition, also shown in the booking, are the basic taxes that are mandated and required by the city, state, and government. Expect to pay at least an additional $57 a night. Did not know about the additional fees until checkout. I will never stay here again with the shady additional fees. AAA should also do a better job at clearing mentioning the additional dollar amount that will be incurred at hotel. Pool is also packed on weekends and a loud night club on roof top.
