This review is impacted by a couple of specific situations. We used to stay at the Fairfield Hotel across the parking lot from the Holiday Inn Express because of it's proximity to the light rail station . . . however, they recently started charging for parking. Doing a search using the AAA website with 'Free Parking' as a search condition listed the Holiday Inn Express. I made a one-night reservation and prepaid through AAA. When I arrived I was told parking was $15. When I mentioned the information I had listed free parking, the response was "Well, I don't know what to tell you. We charge for parking. That's an issue for Priceline. They probably haven't updated their website." (Apparently, reservations for AAA are done through Priceline.) Since I had prepaid for the room, I was kind of committed and ended up paying $15 more. Next, the fans in the room were unbelievably loud. So loud that we couldn't sleep . . . and we are very sound sleepers. The air conditioning and heating was loud . . . and so were the fans in the bathroom. I also wasn't a fan of the barndoor on the bathroom and the shower doors look good, but difficult to open . . . especially from the inside. The rest was okay, but I didn't appreciate being told the parking misunderstanding was my problem. Shouldn't a hotel ensure their information is correct? I think AAA at least owes me $15; however, I will never stay at this Holiday Inn Express again.
Great place to stay! We were in town for a Hawks game. Hotel is super close to the 1 Line for easy travel into the city for games! Great parking area too. The ladies at the front desk are great!! 100% accommodating with a smile! Clean rooms. Clean lobby. And the breakfast was nice too! Airport shuttle available, and even a shuttle for nearby restaurants! We will definitely stay here for all of our Hawk games!! Great find.
