First the positive: Hotel staff friendly, as as helpful as possible under the circumstances. Parking no problem. Bed was comfortable enough. Very limited choices for the free breakfast, but what was available was decent enough. However, this is an old property badly in need of refurbishment, and on top of that quality of maintenance and housekeeping is not good. Common area furniture is shabby and carpeting quite dirty and stained. The room rate was higher than I'd expect from a property in this condition. • Electronic door locks did not always work normally and often I had to insert my keycard several times to open the doors. • The toilet was difficult to flush and the water ran constantly. Bathtub drain about 80% blocked so water was up to my ankles every time I showered. • Two light fixtures in the room did not work, including the desk lamp, which made working at night a challenge. • Soap bars were literally the size of a half dollar coin and would not suds up, and I got a minor skin reaction from using them. Most motels offer a different soap on request, but this one does not--although the hotel staff kindly gave me directions to the nearest Walmart so I could buy my own. • Two plastic drinking cups provided, one of which had clearly been used by a previous guest. • Ice bucket had the metal top from some sort of package in the bottom underneath the folded plastic bag, which means housekeeping didn't bother to check it after previous guests departed. • This motel's standard is for housekeeping to change towels, etc., once every three days. Not a big issue for me, but may concern some folks. In fairness, the hotel staff offered to let me change rooms, but I'd already unpacked the large amount material I needed to work on for the meetings I was attending, so I chose to remain in the room. It's unclear whether another room would have been in better condition. I would not stay at this property again.
