Lq Is Ft Lauderdale Tamarac

Hotel could use some upgrades, room was small, bathroom was tiny. Staff was courteous and helpful breakfast was nice. Location was good as far as getting to places and surrounding restaurants.

Horrible experience. Arrived around 11 pm. It took more than 15 minutes to find a room because they were overbooked. We made reservations two months ago, but they gave our room away. What is the point of making reservation with credit card confirmation? Had to change room three times. First room had a big puddle of water near Ac unit. Carpet was soaked. You don’t realize until you take the shoes off and end up with soaked socks. Second room had only one bed even though we booked two double beds. Third room had a very bad mildew smell, but we were tired to change again at midnight., so we stayed. All these rooms were in first floor. On the second day of stay we were able to get a room in third floor. The clerk even admitted that she can smell mildew from hallway. They also charged for extra room or night. I had to dispute with credit card company. It was refunded. Only highlight is that staff tried to be helpful, but the odds were against them.

The hotel was very nice, clean and the staff pleasant. The only problem we had was there were no local restaurants nearby and we walked 4-5 blocks for our evening meal (we are 2 senior woman in our 80's) The hotel did have coffee in the room and also coffee service in the lobby and they had breakfast available to make your own hot food, which we didn't try as we had to leave for a flight at 5 a.m. A microwave was in our room and they did have a vending machine of frozen choices for the microwave. We were a distance from the port and our fair was close to $45 + tip which was okay.
