Red Roof Flint

The rooms are shabby and ill-kept, I had a first floor room. The window was cloudy as the seal was broken, Could not see out. It actually had a wooden plank positioned in the window, presumably to keep it from being able to be opened by someone on the outside. I was not comfortable with that. I asked for another room and was told no other single rooms were available. I would have to take a room with two double beds but the price would go up. I was there for one night so decide to stay in the room and sleep with one eye opened. The room was felt cool so i adjusted the heat and left for dinner. Returned a couple hours later, room was still cool. Adjusted temp higher. The unit was blowing cold air instead of warm air. Called front desk and was told to try using the wall thermostat instead of the floor unit. No change. Called front desk again. They walked me thru a reset of the system. No change except the room was getting colder. Called Front desk. At around 11:30pm, two ladies from office came to the room to try resetting the heating unit. They told me to give it a little time. 12:05, the room was freezing cold. They claimed there were no more rooms available, but the number of cars in the parking area did not support that claim. The only solution they had was to offer me more blankets, but I had to come get them. I dressed and went to get the blankets. I ended up getting in bed and trying to sleep in my street clothes to keep warm. There was no rest for me ahead of a 12 hour drive home. I left the room at 5:30 am to sit in the breakfast area to wait for my traveling companions. breakfast consisted of stale bagels, peanut butter, watered down juice. There are other things I can speak of like fire extinguisher ripped off with wires just hanging; security flip lock on door ripped out with no effort to repair. I feel I should be compensated in some way for that horrible nigh. Made several attempts to call the manager. He never returned my calls. When I finally did get to speak with him, he told me he had to check the unit out in the room to confirm the working order. He stated he would be calling me back the next day. That has not happened. He also said that he only gives refunds if guest leave within an hour of check-in. It was well passed that time when it became clear that the heat was not going to work and much to late to go in search of other accommodations.

The security lock/latch was broken off. When I am in a hotel room I feel safer being able to flip that little latch. The shower water was not hot enough at night. The breakfast was questionable. Nothing but coffee, bagels and watered down juice. All employees, desk and cleaning were very personable and caring. The bed was super comfort. Good restaurant right across the parking lot. Overall, good stay. I would choose to stay there again.
