I didn’t expect a luxurious hotel room by any mean. Honestly, I didn’t even expect it to be nice. The actual room itself served it’s inferred purpose of giving me a place to sleep, shower, and watch some television. However, the pics I saw on the website before I booked were misleading. It looked fairly cozy and they claimed to be SUPER clean. However, the sheets were pretty stained up and the floor was cold concrete. For the price, it’s very hard to complain. You mostly get what you pay for in life, especially, with hotels. (Actually this wasn’t a “hotel”, this was a “motel”…doors on outside of the building) I actually didn’t notice that when I booked or else I’d paid the extra $ to stay at an actual “hotel”. The motel itself was literally in the parking lot of a warehouse, with NOTHING else even close to it in the way of other motels, restaurants, gas stations, or other businesses. As a matter of fact, it was at the end a dead end street! I’m a good sized man, who can hold his own if I absolutely have to. But I must say, I didn’t feel safe. I rigged my belt around the doorknob as an extra precaution while I slept. Now this probably would have been fine, had it only be me, by myself all weekend. But my 6 year old daughter decided she didn’t want to spend the 2nd, and last night of our Dallas trip with her school friend. With whom, I specifically brought her down there to stay with for the weekend because her and her family had moved from Tulsa to Dallas a few months earlier. As soon as we pulled up the motel, there was a guy standing in his door way with no shirt on, hair all over the place, smoking a blunt, and playing music really loud. Now, we live in North Tulsa and my daughter is used to loud music, the smell of weed, and guys with no shirt on with tats all over. But this guy just felt sketchy. Possibly, because of the warehouse, the dead end, or just how dark it was in the area. She immediately asked if we could either drive home that night, or stay at a different hotel. Unfortunately, I wasn’t in a position financially to pay for a different hotel room and I was way too tired to drive the 5 hours back to Tulsa. So I assured her that I wouldn’t let anything happen to her and we piled every piece of furniture in the room against the door!! It ended up being kind of fun looking for more and more items to add to the “door pile”. But it shouldn’t have been something we had to do. So if you are not wanting to stay in a sketchy area…skip on by this particular motel!
